The picturesque Anafiotika district is nestled in the north slope of the Acropolis and is part of the Plaka neighbourhood. King Otto brought in builders from Anafi to construct a palace in the mid-1800s and these craftsmen recreated the architectural style from their island home in the area. The approximately 40 homes feature white-washed cubes adorned with bougainvillea and geraniums, linked together by narrow pathways accessible to people and cats alike.
