Description

Completed in 1885 and designed by Theophil Hansen, the brother of Christian Hansen, this ornate building, modelled after Plato's Academy, is Greece's most esteemed research institution. It features an Ionian-style entrance that is reminiscent of the eastern entrance to the Erechtheion temple, which is situated on the northern side of the Acropolis. This building is part of the trio of neoclassical structures in a row.
