This tranquil, lush area was named after the potters who populated it around 3000 BC. It was used as a cemetery until the 6th century AD and its marble stelae (grave markers) provide insight into what life was like for the ancient inhabitants; there are many stelae with detailed portraits and recognizable scenes carved into them.
