Description

This building, located on the south side of Monastiraki and built in 1759, is one of the few surviving tzami (mosque) examples in Athens. Although it has not operated as a mosque since Greek Independence, it did serve to cater to King Saud of Saudi Arabia when he visited in 1966. Presently, it is maintained by the Museum of Greek Folk Art, and opens intermittently to host temporary exhibitions.
