The National Library, one of the neoclassical 'trilogy' of buildings on Panepistimio and a dazzling design by Danish architect Theophil Hansen, was constructed in the late-19th-century. Although serious academic researchers are able to explore the interior, visitors are limited to just a quick glimpse in the entrance hall and a photo opportunity on the grand sweeping staircase.
